               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">What</seg> shall we wish you, oh reader <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">dear</rhyme> ?</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">What</seg> do you want for your Happy New <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">Year</rhyme> ?</l>
               <l>People of every age and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="b">state</rhyme></l>
               <l>Have somewhat they fain would ask of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="b">fate</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>If you had but a Slave of the Lamp or the <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">Ring</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And could rub him up instantly,—what should he <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">bring</rhyme> ?</l>
               <l>Whatever it be, if we can but <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="d">guess it</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">We’ll wish</seg> from our hearts that you each may pos<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="d">sess

               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">We’ll wish</seg> for the Queen that her boys and her <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">girls</rhyme></l>
               <l>May be bright as diamonds and fair as <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">pearls</rhyme>,</l>

               <l>That virtue and learning, hand in <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="f">hand</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>May fill her councils and rule her <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="f">land</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>That the sky of her life be bright a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="g">bove her</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And her days be long with the lieges that <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="g">love her</rhyme>.</l>
               <l>We’ll wish that the Lords may pass good <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="h">laws</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And the Commons be strong in each righteous <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="h">cause</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>That Army and Navy alike may <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="i">be</rhyme></l>
               <l>The best of defences by land and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="i">sea</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>That every Bishop may rule in <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="j">peace</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Over a flourishing dio<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="j">cese</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And every pastor heartily <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="k">strive</rhyme></l>
               <l>To save the souls of his flock a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="k">live</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l>That those who hunger in body or <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="l">soul</rhyme></l>
               <l>This year be fed with a Christian <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="l">dole</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>That the little children be taught to <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="m">read</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And a harvest reaped from the sower’s <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="m">seed</rhyme>.</l>
               <l>We’ll wish to the sickly the toughest of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="n">lives</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>To maidens husbands,—to bachelors <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="n">wives</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>That babes may increase in strength and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="o">grace</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And bloom like flowers in their parents’ <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="o">face</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>That the fool may grow wise ere he yet be <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="p">old</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">And the purse that</seg> lacks find a store of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="p">gold</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora dvpp:sdVariant">And the hand that</seg> has it a will to <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="q">spend</rhyme>,</l>

               <l>We’ll wish for workers of each de<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="i">gree</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>To earn and eat in prosperi<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="i">ty</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Plenty of</seg> coals at the poor man’s <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="r">door</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Plenty of</seg> grain on the farmer’s <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="r">floor</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Plenty of</seg> fees to the learned pro<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="s">fessions</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Plenty of</seg> railways through landed pos<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="s">sessions</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Plenty of</seg> cargoes brought home on the <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="t">breeze</rhyme></l>
               <l>By the quickest of ships on the calmest of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="t">seas</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Unpacked at the docks to the merchant’s con<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="u">tent</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">And</seg> sold in the market at fifty per <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="u">cent</rhyme>.</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">And</seg> we wish, oh dear reader, all jesting a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="v">part</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">That</seg> mercy and love may grow strong in your <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="v">heart</rhyme>,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">That</seg> dearer than riches or what they can <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="w">buy</rhyme></l>
               <l>Be the creed which shall help you to live or to <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="w">die</rhyme>.</l>
               <l>That whatever your portion of joy or of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="x">sorrow</rhyme></l>
               <l>Meted out in the Year which is born with to<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="x">morrow</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Its close shall behold you with common ac<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="y">cord</rhyme></l>
