Would I were a little Merman1
With a pearly shell to blow,2
Riding on the blue sea-horses3
With their foam-manes white as snow.4
I’d go diving on a dolphin,5
Find you in a cave below.6
Would I were an elfin fairy7
In the glowing air of June,8
Pelting all the thirsty flowers9
With the raindrops for a boon.10
I’d go climbing up the rainbow,11
Find you sitting in the moon.12
