Aubyn Battye.Born in Hever, Kent. Son of William Wilberforce Battye and Harriet Dorothea (née Meade-Waldo). Aubyn’s father William was a descendant of Sir John Trevor, and upon William’s death in 1890, by which point he had succeeded to the estate, Aubyn changed his surname to Trevor-Battye, as did his siblings and mother. Educated at St. Edward’s School, Oxford, and Christ Church, Oxford. Worked as a zoologist on several expeditions, and was a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
