Politician, art collector, and poet. Father of Ralph Bernal Osborne. Born in Colchester, Essex. Son of a Sephardic Jewish-Spanish merchant. Educated at Christ’s College, Cambridge. Married twice, Anne Elizabeth White on 10 April 1806 and Clara Christian White on 3 August 1824. Whig MP for Lincoln (1818-1820), Rochester (1820-1841, 1848-1852), and Weymouth (1842-1847).
