Poet, translator, travel writer, critic, and journalist. Friends with the painter John Constable and his family after tutoring Constable’s sons. From 1840 Boner began a twenty-year employment with Prince Thurn und Taxis and his family in Regensburg, Germany. During this time he learned German and published translations of German literature. He also published criticism on German literature and accounts of his travels in Germany. Author of poetry volumes Cain (1855), The New Dance of Death and Other Poems (1857), and Verses (1858). In 1860 Boner moved to Munich. In 1865 Boner became the special correspondent for the London Daily News in Vienna. Biographical information: ODNB. (AC)
