Married twice, to Bessie Mary Smith and then to Elsie Reynolds. Member of the Manchester Literary Club. Author of books on company law. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for the poem Parted, published on 21 June 1884, gives his address as 51 Chapman St, Manchester (NLS Dep 341/369). The Chambers’s Journal Authors’ Book entry for 12 May 1884 adds Hume to the address (NLS Dep 341/295).
