Poet and teacher. Born at Frome, Somerset. Listed on the 1901 England census as living in Heavitree, Devon, with her uncle’s family, working as an assistant school teacher. Married Charles Hilton Hutchison in 1912. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for ’The Venice of the North,’ published on 20 January 1900, lists the author as Miss R. Gillgrew of 32 Gladstone Rd, W. Kensington, London (NLS Dep 341/371). The relationship between Bromage and Gillgrew is unclear. The ledger entry for Bromage’s other poem in Chambers’s, Dreamland: Sweden, published on 9 November 1901, lists the author as Miss L. M. R. Bromage, of Wetheral, near Carlisle (NLS Dep 341/371).
