B.Born in London. Son of General William Earle Bulwer and Elizabeth Barbara Lytton, but informally adopted by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Lytton. Older brother of Edward Bulwer-Lytton. Educated at Harrow School, Trinity College, Cambridge, and Downing College, Cambridge. Lived in Paris from 1822-1824, then was stationed in a series of major European cities during his careers in diplomacy and politics, including a brief exile to Washington, before resettling in England to take up political posts. Worked as a diplomat until elected the Liberal MP for Tamworth, England, in 1868, and later took the title of Baron Dalling and Bulwer in Norfolk. Made additional income from literary publications and successful business ventures throughout his life. Married Georgiana Charlotte Mary Wellesley in 1848. Author of a volume of poetry, Ode on the Death of Napoleon (1822), and notable political, historical, and biographical works. Biographical information: ODNB. (BGL)
