Illustrator and painter. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Son of George Canehead, a public prosecutor. Educated at Aberdeen University. Further studied painting at the atelier of Carolus-Duran in Paris (1882). Influenced by Patrick Geddes’s Celtic Revival and collaborated with him in illustrating The Evergreen. Member of the Society of Scottish Painters, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water-colours, and Scottish Arts Club. In 1912, founded the Edinburgh Society of Eight.
