Curate in Charlton, Wiltshire (1853-1856). Employed as a teacher at various grammar schools (1857-1880). Professor of Latin at University College, London (1880-1892). Author of Two Thousand Years Ago: or, The Adventures of a Roman Boy (1886), The Legend of Saint Vitalis, and Other Poems (1887), The Fall of Athens: A Story of the Peloponnesian War (1895).
