Poet, editor, and novelist. Alternative signature: Mrs E. Cobbold. Née Knipe. Married William Clarke, from Ipswich, on 16 November 1790. Clarke died three months’ later. Cobbold then married John Cobbold, also from Ipswich, on 7 August 1791. Author of Poems on Various Subjects (1783), The Mince Pye (1800, under the pseudonym Carolina Petty Pasty). Six Narrative Poems (1787, by subscription), and the posthumously published Poems (1825, edited with a memoir by Letitia Jermyn). Probably edited The Chaplet (1805).
