Poet and Church of England clergyman. Born in Ewall, Surrey. Educated at Broadgates Hall, and Christ Church College, Oxford. Composed elegies on members of the church and notable figures such as Prince Henry and King James I. Ordained in 1613. Royal chaplain to King James I. Married Alice Hutton in 1625. Became the Bishop of Oxford in 1628 and Bishop of Norwich in 1632. Publications include the posthumous Certain Elegant Poems, written by Dr. Corbet, Bishop of Norwich (1647). Friends with Ben Jonson.
