Son of David Blaine Crockett, a farmer, and Anne Crockett. Raised and influenced by his grandparents’ Cameronian beliefs. Educated at New College, University of Edinburgh (1881-85). Married Ruth Milner in 1887, with whom he had five children. Became a Free Kirk minister in 1885. Member of the Scottish Free Church. His writing encompassed regional novels, historical fiction, and adventure tales, often drawing inspiration from his native Galloway. Publications include several novels, such as Little Anna Mark (1900) and Rose of the Wilderness (1909), which were serialized in periodicals including The Cornhill Magazine and The Buchan Observer.
