“The Ruined Abbey”(published 3 September 1891) gives his address as Dennistoun (NLS Dep 341/294), the east end of Glasgow. A member of the Glasgow Ballad Club, according to Ballads and Poems, third series (1908). Reilly notes that he lived in Tweedside.
