Poet, Queen of Holland, and memoirist. Mother of Napoleon III. Born in Paris. Attended French court beginning in 1799. Married Louis Bonaparte in 1802, but separated in 1810. Became Queen of Holland in 1806. Banished from France in 1815 because of her support of her son during his Hundred Days return. Lived in Switzerland where she wrote Memoirs of Queen Hortense (1862).
