J. F.Born in Edinburgh. Educated at the Universities of Edinburgh and Oxford. Nephew of John Wilson (“Christopher North”). Member of William Hamilton’s circle. Married his cousin, Margaret Wilson, on 3 October 1837. Publications include Institutes of Metaphysics (1854), Scottish Philosophy, the Old and the New (1856).
