Poet and playwright. Born in Sharpham Park, Somerset. Son of Colonel Edmund Fielding and Sarah Gould. Educated at Eton College and University of Lieden. Worked as a writer and magistrate. Married Charlotte Cradock on 28 November 1734 and Mary Daniel on 27 November 1747. Author of a prolific amount of novels and plays, particularly well known is The Tragedy of Tragedies: or the Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great (1731). Biographical information: ODNB. (BGL)
