Poet and novelist. Pseudonyms: Beatrice Grange, Mrs. Holland. Alternartive signatures: Beatrice Kipling, Alice Fleming, Mrs. J. M. Fleming. Daughter of Lockwood Kipling, a school principal in India and poet Alice MacDonald Kipling, and sister of Rudyard Kipling. Moved to Lahore with her family in 1883. Married Jack Fleming, an employee of the Survey of India in 1889. Explored the Anglo-Indian life in her fiction, but upon return to England in the late 1890s, turned to the occult. Her novels include The Heart of a Maid (1890) and A Pinchbeck Goddess (1897). Co-authored Hand in Hand: Verses by a Mother and a Daughter (1901) with Alice MacDonald Kipling and collaborated with Rudyard Kipling in Echoes (1884) and Quartette (1885).
