Whistlecraft.Born in London. Educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. MP for West Looe, Cornwall (1796-1802). Co-publisher of the Anti-Jacobin with George Canning (1797-1798). Worked for the Foreign Office in Lisbon, Portugal, and Madrid, Spain (1800-1809). Married Elizabeth Jemima Blake on 12 September 1816. Moved to Malta in 1818. Co-founder of the Quarterly Review.
