Poet. Sister of poets Alice and Katherine Furlong. Contributed to Nation, United Ireland, The Irish Monthly, The Lamp, The Boston Pilot, and The Ave Maria. Ran the family household after the death of her parents c. 1897. Nursed typhus patients in Co. Roscommon, before dying of the disease herself the following year. Chambers’s Journal ledger entries refer to her as Miss M. Furlong, of The Villa, Tallaght, Co. Dublin (poem published 14 May 1895; NLS Dep 341/370) and of Old Brown [Bawn] Villa, Tallaght, Co. Dublin (29 July 1893; NLS Dep 341/370).
