Poet and professor. Born in Bihar, India. Son of Krishna Dhan Ghose (1844–1892/3), a medical officer and Swarnalata Basu (1852-?). Educated at Manchester Grammar School and Christ Church, Oxford. Married Malati Banerjee (d. 1918) in 1899. A friend of Laurence Binyon and Oscar Wilde. Contributed to Primavera (1890), a poetry anthology. Returned to India in 1893 after his father’s death and taught English Literature at Dacca College and Presidency College. Some of his poetry collections include Love-Songs and Elegies (1898) and Songs of Love and Death (posthumously published in 1926). Biographical information: ODNB. (NM)
