Poet, writer, and journalist. Born in Bowdon, Cheshire. Son of Alfred Perceval Graves, and half-brother of Robert Graves and Charles Graves. Educated at Oriel College, Oxford. Lived in Cairo and was correspondent for the Egyptian Gazette, and then served as the London Times correspondent in Constantinople (1908-1914). Worked for British army intelligence during the First World War. Worked again as foreign correspondent after the war, then became an editor of The Times. Married twice: to (Leila) Millicent Gilchrist, and then to Katherine Eleanor Dewar. Retired to Ireland in 1946. Publications include Palestine, The Land of Three Faiths(1923) and A Record of the War (1940). Biographical information: ODNB. (AC)
