D. Gray.Born in Luggie, Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire. Son of David Gray and Ann (née Cloggie). Educated at the University of Glasgow. A friend of Robert Buchanan and Sydney Dobell. Contributed to The Glasgow Citizen. Most famous for his sonnet series In the Shadows (1861) and a long idyllic poem The Luggie (1862). Died of tuberculosis in Merkland, unmarried.
