S. Greg.Born at Quarry Bank House, Styal. Unitarian. Son of Samuel Greg (1758-1834), major cotton manufacturer and owner of Quarry Bank Mill. Studied for a term at the University of Edinburgh. Became owner of the Lowerhouse Mill, Bollington, in 1832, where he created a model village. President of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Biographical information:
