Catholic poet, playwright, and historian. Born in Worcestershire. Educated at the English College in St Omer, France, a school run by Jesuits, and at the Jesuit Collège de Clermont in Paris. Married Lucy Herbert in February 1633. Associated with the network of Catholic families around their home in Worcestershire and at court with those who surrounded Queen Henrietta Maria.
