W. J. Henderson.Born in Newark, New Jersey. Educated at Princeton. Began his career in journalism, eventually becoming the music critic for The New York Times and later The New York Sun. Lectured on music history at the New York College of Music and was elected to the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1914.
