Poet, Church of England clergyman, and teacher. Pseudonym: Amator Veri. Alternative signature: Rev. J. Hudson, M. A. Educated at Peterhouse College, Cambridge. Ordained a priest in 1885. Served as a curate in several parishes from 1884 to 1914. Lecturer at Battersea Training College (1895-1896). Assistant Master of Denstone College (1899-1900) and Claysmore School (1902-1903). Author of *The Dream of Pilate’s Wife. A Poem suggested by Doré’s Famous Picture (1890). Chambers’s Journal ledger entries list him as Rev. J. Hudson, and give his address as Tamworth Rectory, Blandford, Dorset (poem published 15 January 1898; NLS Dep 341/371), Hydropathic, Great Malvern (7 May 1898; NLS Dep 341/371), and Great Casterton, Stamford (19 January 1901; NLS Dep 341/371).
