Poet and song writer. Born in Kelso. Worked in London for an Edinburgh brewing company (1827-1840) and joined the London Literary and Scientific Institution. Author of Scottish Songs (1835), English Songs and Ballads (1838), Songs and Poems, Chiefly Scottish (1845).
