Poet, prose writer, editor, journalist, and agriculture specialist. From Lower Halstow, Kent. Moved to Greenwich in 1851. Married Maria Castle in 1856. Contributed to many periodicals including the Critic, The Miller, Mark Lane Express, Sussex Express. Editor of agricultural magazines the Farmer and *The Country Gentleman’s Magazine. Travelled to France and Spain several times between 1876-1878. Author of The Statue Shrine (1857).
