Poet and politician. Known for wit and satire. Born in London. Son of Sir Roger Jenyns and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Jenyns (née Soame). Educated at St. John’s College, Cambridge, but never finished his degree. Married Mary Soame on 5 May 1726, and following her death, married his cousin Elizabeth Gray on 26 February 1754. Worked as an elected representative of Cambridgeshire, and various political posts afterward.
