Poet and novelist. Also known as Mrs. Tom Kelly. Born in Burgh, Cumberland to Peter Spence, a chemist, and Agnes (née Mudie). Married Tom Kelly, an artist, in 1873, who later illustrated her poems in The English Illustrated Magazine. Her major publications include two novels, Time and Chance (1882) and A Leddy in her Ain Richt (1896). After her husband’s death, she lived with her sister and died in Merstham, Surrey.
