Illustrator, engraver, painter, and watercolourist. Based in London. Born in Hackford, Norfolk. Apprenticed with the Dalziel Brothers for five years and afterwards worked with them for one year. Married twice, Janet Dalziel in June 1862 and Edith Golightly in 1889. Member of the Artists’ Society Club, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Miniature Society, and Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
