Travelled in Europe. Lived in Rome and Venice (1839-1842). Married Julia Ann Lake on 6 October 1847. Exhibited his photography at his studio in London (1855-1860). Photographed members of the royal family and the interior of Osbourne House. Author of several books on photography. Exhibited at the Royal Academy and Photographic Society.
