Poet and novelist. Née Ponsonby. Born in London. Although she briefly attended Miss Rowden’s school, she received no formal education. Married William Lamb on 3 June 1805. Had a short but notorious affair with Lord Byron in 1812; after their separation he became the inspiration for the villain in her novel Glenarvon (1816). Legally separated from her husband in 1825.
