Poet, editor, and university teacher. Alternative signature: W. K. Leask. Born in Old Machar, Aberdeen. Educated at the University of Aberdeen and Merton and Worcester Colleges, Oxford. Assistant Professor of Greek at the University of Aberdeen (1881-1887). Lecturer at the University of Oxford (1889-1894). Returned to Aberdeen in 1894 where he wrote and edited books. Contributed to Aberdeen University Review and Glasgow Herald. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Voices, published on 19 May 1891, lists the author as W. K. Leask, of Worcester College, Oxford (NLS Dep 341/370).
