Poet. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Good-Bye, signed S. Le Fanu and published on 5 June 1897, lists the author as “S. Le Fanu Miss Ernmore [? illeg.] 145 Leinster Rd Dublin.” (NLS Dep 341/371). Hugh Le Fanu is listed at this address in the Journal of Mental Science, 1908, vol. 54, p. xv; see also Hugh Barrington Le Fanu (1872-1929), Ancestry. It is not clear who S. Le Fanu is, but their nationality is presumed from the address. (AC)
