Dora Lynch,
Mrs. Henry Lynch.Née Foulks. Born in Dale Park, Madehust, Sussex. Father, Arthur Foulks, was compensated in 1836 for owning slaves in a sugar plantation in Jamaica, and Theodora spent some of her childhood in Jamaica. Married Henry Mark Lynch on 28 December 1835 in Jamaica, and afterwards lived with her husband in London and then Jamaica until her husband's death on 15 July 1845. Theodora Lynch then moved back to England and began a literary career authoring poetry and fiction. Publications include Lays of the Sea and Other Poems (1846, 1850), Songs of the Evening Land, and Other Poems (1861). Biographical information: ODNB. (AC)
