M C G. (poet; Century Guild) (M)

Pseudonymous poet. A note to the 1884 prospectus issue of Century Guild Hobby Horse states that “M C G. stands for ‘Member of the Century Guild.’ In justice to the writer of this poem and that of ‘the Praise,’ I hold back his name, until by publication of poems on other subjects, his whole self has sought and found expression” (p. 1).
