Church of England clergyman, teacher, translator, and poet. Educated at Exeter College, Oxford. Teacher at Shrewsbury School (1852-1855). Ordained 1858. Appointed vicar of Southleight, Whitney, Oxfordshire in 1869. Married Elizabeth Anstey on 3 July 1855. Translator of hymns from Latin, Greek, and German.
