Pseudonymous poet. According to Miscellaneous Writings of the Late Dr. Maginn. Volume 1: The Odoherty Papers (Redfield, 1855), Mrs M’Whirter was an Irish widow with whom Maginn had a romance.
But this is probably a humorous pseudonym for either Maginn or Thomas Hamilton (Strout
