Poet and schoolteacher. Born in Aberdeen, then lived with his family at Ellon and Glasgow. Educated at St. Enoch’s Parish School and the Established Church College. Taught in a school at Glenapp, Ayrshire. Published poetry in local newspapers and magazines such as the Glasgow Weekly Herald. Author of Poems and Sonnets (1896). Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Mutch’s July, published on 18 July 1891, lists his address as Glenapp, Ayrshire (NLS Dep 341/370).
