Married Margaret Edina on 15 August 1889. Margaret’s cousin, Ella Coltman, became a third member of the household and also had a relationship with Newbolt, with Margaret’s knowledge and consent. Publications include several novels and volumes of poetry, including The Island Race (1898), The Sailing of the Long-ships (1902), Songs of the Sea (1904), and Songs of the Fleet (1910).
