Poet. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Alone, signed Mary Niel and published on 11 July 1891, lists the author as Miss M. Daniel, of Grove Villa, Surbiton Hill, London, S. W. (NLS Dep 341/370). Possibly the poem’s signature is a mistake for Mary Daniel, who published a poem in Chambers’s Journal on 4 April 1896. (AC)
