Illustrator, wood engraver, landscape painter, watercolorist. Born in Walham Green, Fulham. Studied at the Department of Science and Art’s school at Marlborough House before gaining an apprenticeship to a wood engraver, where he worked with Fred Walker and George John Pinwell. Worked for the Dalziel Brothers (1862-1866). Contributed to Sunday Magazine. Became an associate member of the Old Watercolour Society in 1871 and the Royal Academy in 1893.
