Poet and lord chancellor of Ireland. Son of Edward O’Hagan and Mary (née Bell). Educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. Entered King’s Inn and Gray’s Inn and was called to the Irish bar in 1836. Served as MP for Tralee, Co. Kerry (1863-5). Appointed lord chancellor in 1868. Married Mary Teeling on 5 February 1836 and, after her death, married Alice Mary Townley on 2 August 1871. Biographical information: DIB. (BGL)
