Poet. Pseudonyms: G. P. D. and G. P., D. (presumably indicating his Dundee home). Born in Meigle, and moved to Dundee where he initially worked briefly as a teacher and then as a clerk. Friends with George Gilfillan and Thomas Aird. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for his poem Ode to the Swallow, published on 11 August 1883, gives his address as 14 Wellington St, Dundee (NLS Dep 341/369).
