Poet and novelist. Satirist. Pseudonym: P. M. O’Donovan. Born in Dorset, England. Son of Samuel Peacock and his wife Sarah (née Love). Well acquainted with Percy Byshhe Shelley and father-in-law to George Meredith. Lived in London for most of his life. Worked as a clerk in London, a secretary to Sir Home Riggs Popham, and worked in the examiner's office of the East India Company for most of his life, while earning income from writing. Married Jane Gryffydh on 22 March 1820. Publications include his first volume of poems, Palmyra, and Other Poems (1806), which brought adequate enough income to start a literary career, followed by several volumes of poetry and letters, and Memoirs of Percy Byshhe Shelley (1858-1860), published in installments in Fraser’s.
