Poet, classicist, and translator. Born in Boconnoc, Cornwall. Son of Vice-Admiral Sir Augustus Phillimore and Harriet Eleanor. Educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. Scholar and lecturer on classical subjects. Served as chair of Greek and Latin at the University of Glasgow. Married Margaret Cecily Hamilton-Spencer-Smith in 1900.
