C. L. Pirkis.Born in Hoxton, London. Daughter of Lewis Stephens Lyne and his wife, Susan (née Dixon). Lived in London most of her life. Married Frederick Edward Pirkis on 19 September 1872. Worked as a writer full time and was an animal rights activist alongside her husband.
