Crimson-spotted lies the field,3
Blood-blotted like a warrior’s shield.4
Yonder poppies, full of scorn,5
Proudly wave above the corn.6
There is music at our feet,7

You may track the winds that blow9
Through the cornfields as they go ;10
From the wheat, as from a sea,11
Springs the lark in ecstasy.12
